Government
Augusta, as well as the rest of the Washtenaw County townships, is governed by a board of trustees. Open Board Meetings are held at the Ann Arbor Charter Township Hall on Mondays at 7:30 P.M. Being a community oriented government; there is also a planning commission that meets at 7:30 on the first Monday of every month.
History
As a township of Ann Arbor, Augusta Michigan is rich with a history that revolves around a mixture of ethnicities. The citizens that currently lived there and have for generations, are descendants of Early American Settlers, Native Americans, and Canadians for the most part. Augusta is the result of land sold to the United States Government in the early 1800’s and inevitably resold to settlers.
