Demographics

Located in the upper Northwest corner of Wayne County in the scenic state of Michigan, Livonia has an amazingly high population of over 100,000 individuals. The city lies a little over twenty miles from the major metropolis of Detroit, though it still retains a casual suburban air to it.  The median age for the citizens is in the 40-year-old range.  The unemployment rate for the Livonia district is at roughly 3 percent, the lowest in the entire state of Michigan. As a sub-entity of Wayne County, Michigan's largest and most prominent county, Livonia is fortunate to have an extremely large budget. The Livonia Michigan government is overall subject to the rulings of those of Wayne County, but does have a very large amount of economical freedom to expand upon itself. As with the majority of Michigan townships and cities Livonia has its' own governing council , which meets on a monthly basis.

 

History

Livonia is the result of a mix of pioneers traveling from the New York and New England regions.  The town was actually officially established in 1835. The area gained the title of an actual city in the year of 1950, per a vicinity vote. Growth began to be more evident around the late 1950's, multiplying each year until the new millennium, when it finally leveled out. Today, the community still experiences regular growth spurts and economical stability.

Community Information

Livonia is famed for the many local attractions, events, and diverse choice of activities. One of the more prominent local community events is that of the Livonia Spree, a festival in Ford Field that has a magnificent fireworks display at the last week of June. Livonia also boasts the highly trafficked Livonia Mall and the esteemed Laurel Park Place., as well as a large number of family attractions, such as museums and theatres.
