Government

The South Lyon community resides under a government of a council with a residing manager. Meetings are twice per month at 7:30, on the second and final Monday of the month. As a sub community under the authority of the Oakland County governing council, all South Lyon issues inevitably go through the Oakland government. Nevertheless, the county tends to allow the South Lyon governing council a lot of fiscal freedom.

History

Interestingly enough, South Lyon is officially located within Oakland County, but at the same time is the connecting region of Oakland and two other counties, those being Livingston and Washtenaw. The convenient location served to grow South Lyon quickly as other villages formed in the surrounding three counties. South Lyon served as a midpoint for traders early on. As the years passed and Detroit became the manufacturing hub that it is today, South Lyon inevitably turned into mainly citizen housing and was transformed into the real estate paradise as it is now.

Community Information
