Government
Ypsilanti Michigan, as a charter township, has a governmental board within itself, for the most part apart from that of the rest of the Washtenaw county area. As a charter township, the local government seems to put a lot of emphasis on results and impressing upon the surrounding townships and cities that Ypsilanti is completely self-contained and able to produce well-above average results by taking pride in their township. The local community planning commission meets on the first Monday of each month at 7:30 P.M.
History
From the beginning, in 1827, the area where Ypsilanti now lays was one of beauty, of a horizon of hills and plains with amazing sunsets. Perhaps this is what brought the original founders to this ear. In the early years, the first business established in Ypsilanti was a trading post that went by the simple name of "Godfrey's." Local settlers quickly looked to the local rivers as a possibility for industrial growth through hydro power. People came from many different regions and country to claim their personal piece of Ypsilanti. Today, Hydro power plays no part in the local industries, but the heart and soul of those who settled the area is evident in the bold and spirited personalities of current citizens.
Community Information
Ypsilanti, as well as all of Washtenaw County, has more options for the artistic appreciative family than many of the surrounding counties put together. There are so many options for fine arts appreciation, such as the Riverside Arts Center and the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. Then there is the Wild Swan Theater, on of Michigan's most renowned performing artists. There are theaters of every type, museums, and more.
Beyond the local arts, there is definitely a niche here for the outdoor oriented individuals also. There are many local bodies of water, rivers, lakes, and creeks, which are perfect focal spots for water sports. In addition, the surrounding area has ample woodland for hunting and hiking, as well as bicycling and camping.
Real Estate
